What you may not have realized are the many beauty faux pas that do nothing in your youthful quest. Here are 9 beauty mistakes that make you look older and easy ways to resolve them.

Here Are The Youthful Solutions To:

9 Beauty Mistakes That Make You Look Older

#1 You Skipped Primer

Let me introduce you to your new best friend: primer. A primer can smooth, blur and diminish. Most primers create a smooth surface and help your makeup look flawless. They can diminish fine lines and large pores and even have SPF.

The Paula’s Choice RESIST Smoothing Primer serum with SPF 30 is a multi-tasking formula combining a serum, primer and sunscreen in one. It features antioxidants and broad-spectrum SPF 30 sun protection to improve the signs of aging and shield against environmental stressor. A soft matte finish blurs fine lines, large pores and imperfections for a flawless, make-up-ready complexion. Available at, Nordstrom, Amazon for $30.

2# Your Brows Look Like Fine Lines

Cara Delevingne, Lily Collins and Brooke Shields before them, all have enviable brows. The rest of us could benefit from some filling in with a brow pencil or brush. When your brows are thin and overly arched it’s a dead giveaway to your age while full, bushy brows signify youth.

3# You’re Not Thinking Beauty from the Inside Out

4# Your Eyeliner Is Too Thick

Makeup artists tell me that thick eyeliner will age you quicker than you can say, “quick.” Worse is when you draw it thick and only on your bottom lash line. So next time you’re lining your eyes think thin and skip the bottom lash line to avoid drawing any attention to those pesky fine lines and wrinkles.

5# You Forgot About Blush

You want that youthful, child like rosy glow on your cheeks. So why have you been skipping it? Just don’t overdue it. What you should skip is glitter or shimmer finishes.

6# You Didn’t Remember SPF

SPF in your daytime products should be a given. Whether it’s in your moisturizer, since you always put moisturizer on your face, or even if you choose to have it in your foundation or face tint; just do it already. Even just 20 minutes in the sun can cause damage. My favorites are Neutrogena and Nars.

7# Your Hair Is Lifeless & Too Straight

Wakeup! You’ve been lazy about taking care of your hair and it shows. When your hair is lackluster and looks dull and flat, you end up looking older. Start being picky with the products you use and get healthy hair. You CAN get shiny, bouncy and even glossy curls and volume without the big price tag.

I asked my hair stylist recently which styles and cuts age a person. She and several others in the salon said stick-straight styles that have been flattened like paper and blunt cuts have a tendency to make your face appear long and even sag your features. The solution? Layers, volume, texture and lots of movement. The stylists all said you want cuts to frame your face and diminish harsh lines.
