Donut and Wine Party for Every Personality

We love donuts! We love wine! I created a donut and wine party for every personality that will make your next gathering festive and sweet. This party is so easy to pull together and works whether your invite says drinks and dessert on a Saturday night or Sunday brunch. Time to satisfy your sweet tooth with a delicious party.

Party plan: Most important be creative and have fun!

Choose five wines and five donuts for your wine and donut tasting. While a whole donut does look tempting, cut donuts into quarters for each tasting and only serve a 1/4 to a 1/3 of a glass of wine. Once your guests have tasted all the donuts and wines encourage them to return to their favorites for second, third or fourth servings.

Choose from full-bodied reds to light, crisp white wines and then choose donuts that complement those flavors. Wines have certain fruity or oaky or earthy flavors which are usually described on the back of a bottle so use that as a guide when making your pairings. For table decor create small tiers of donuts along the length of a table, have wine glasses ready for pours and donuts cut in quarters ready to eat. Team up a wine bottle with cut donuts and get ready to give a brief explanation with every tasting.

Joey Pintozzi from Hospitality Blvd gave me a little help suggesting,”The best way to start is with your bolder or full-bodied wines while working your way down to the sweetest of taste. This can become a little tricky since donuts are naturally sweet, but it may become easier if you base your pairing sequence on your selected wines. Moving wines starting from bolder and dryer to sweeter.”

Pair dark chocolates and caramels or anything heavy with red wines and fruity or light flavors (as if there is such a thing with donuts) with whites and sparkling. For a little help, I’ve made some suggestions of wines paired with donuts from Blue Star Donuts.
