Spring Dresses in Pantone’s Colors of the Year

Pantone made design and fashion news after choosing not one, but two different colors of the year for 2016. In addition to the beautiful duo, Rose Quartz and Serenity, Pantone’s colors of the year included an additional eight colors to serve as a trending palette for the emerging spring season. As an LA stylist and personal shopper, I’m always searching for ways to add some color into my clients wardrobes and InStyle magazine covered it here, in a recent online article. I’m using Pantone’s top ten color picks as my inspiration for a handful of beautiful spring dresses plus my style tips on what to wear with the dress.

Pantone’s Colors of the Year

Peach Echo

Peach is reminiscent of beautiful sunsets and bronzed skin with sun-kissed cheeks, so it’s only fitting that Pantone included this soft orangey hue. The Breathless midi dress pictured above from Lovers + Friends is perfect for those steamy spring and summer nights when you really want to flaunt your figure. The sheer bodice and partially lined underpinning will leave you feeling cool while looking hot.

Serenity

Like the name suggests, Serenity is a light and lovely sky blue. It’s also one of the two main hues that Pantone chose for its colors of the year. The ethereal tint is made even more so when used as the fabric for the Suzy draped silk asymmetrical dress pictured above from BCBG Max Azria. This is a highly flattering piece, showing just the right amount of skin and creating that hourglass look thanks to the belted waist.

Rose Quartz

The second of the two colors of the year from Pantone is Rose Quartz. This soft, wearable, dusty pink works well when paired with neutrals or when worn solo. From Lyst, the stunning pink I Will Wait lace dress pictured above from Keepsake is perfect for attending springtime brunches, weddings, baby showers, cocktail hours, and more. Pair this feminine number with a pair of neutral sandals and demure jewelry to complete the look.

Buttercup

Another hue that made Pantone’s list is a cheerful yellow known as Buttercup. This warm-weather favorite will brighten up even the dreariest of days, especially during the workweek. The beautiful embellished neckline dress pictured above from Oasis features a mid-weight lined jacquard that’s cut perfectly for the office. Pair this with a white blazer or cardigan and a pair of closed-toe pumps for an outfit that’s professional enough for work and dressy enough for cocktails after.

Limpet Shell

Limpet Shell is an appealing pale turquoise that’s certain to be popping up for spring. Feminine touches are in this year and the lace feature is trending, according to the Harper’s Bazaar. The Kayte shift dress pictured above from Cynthia Steffe has all of your bases covered and is perfect for a casual outing paired with sandals, dressed up for a wedding, or cocktail hour when worn with a pair of heels and your favorite clutch.

Now that you’ve had a chance to see 2016’s color selections from Pantone, you’ll have a head start on what to wear as we transition into spring and summer. Not only are dresses easy and breezy for the warm months ahead, but they’re also effortlessly stylish and chic. Definitely include your own spin on what I’ve shown you and have fun with the newest colors of the season.
