You got the invite, but now what? I’ve got several summer wedding outfit ideas. Determining what to wear can be tricky – you want to be dressy enough for the occasion, but still wear an outfit that fits the season, i.e. sweat less on the dance floor and outdoors. So read on for my top tips when picking the perfect dress for a summer wedding.

Skip the LBD
Summer weddings and warmer locations are the perfect time to be expressive with brighter, vibrant colors and prints. A little black dress will seem uninventive and probably raise your own temperature in the heat. I love a sweeping, colorful maxi dress, but don’t limit yourself to longer lengths when there are som many options.
Location. Location. Location.
If it’s a beach wedding avoid clingy dresses. Choose a dress in a lightweight fabric that flows when you move. A shorter length dress would be ideal as well. Pair with flat metallic sandals or be daring and go barefoot for the ceremony since wearing sandals in the sand is frustrating anyway.
Shoe Challenge
You want heels for the height and the overall polished look with a dress, but an outdoor wedding can lead to challenges. Grass, sand and even a pebbled path can mean your heels sinking in the substance and getting ruined. Instead, choose a wedge or block heel which will give you the height you want plus the stability. I’ve seen many sparkly and bejeweled block heels recently.
Weather Report
Nothing worse than getting trapped unprepared due to the weather. Check the forecast before you leave. Apply sunscreen and bring along sunglasses and perhaps a wide-brimmed hat for daytime affairs and a linen scarf that can double as a wrap for nighttime occasions.
