For the Oscars 2014 Whoopi Goldberg and daughter, Alex Martin were planning to attend. I stepped in and dressed Whoopi’s daughter Alex Martin. NO, I did not dress Whoopi, but I would have loved the chance since I’ve been on The View with her several times. Last week was hectic as I was suddenly being included in a pilot shoot for a reality show about Whoopi Goldberg’s family and while laughing it up with Alex and her bestie, Lisa on the shoot I was given the task of dressing her for The Oscars. With two days to prep for a Friday night fitting, I called 12 designers and was able to pull in 25 dresses for Alex’s curvy shape and dash over to her place on a rainy night with a seamstress at my side. From Dalia MacPhee to Theia to Tadashi Shoji to David’s Bridal, I filled a room with beading, tulle, taffeta and chiffon. Oh, and that camera crew with us as well to capture all the glamour and giggles of three girls chatting about gowns.
